A 6mm ECW Campaign:  1645 SW Leicestershire.

It is early May 1645.  The King is planning to take Leicester.  He sends an advanced party to cover the south western approaches to the city.  They set up a base at Sapcote and start patrolling the local area which includes High Cross, the cross roads of The Fosseway and Watling Street, two of the main roads in the area.

Local area map.
Known Parliamentarian forces are garrisoned at Coventry, Warwick, Nuneaton, Hinckley and Leicester.  The King plans to travel to Ashby and wait to see before he moves on Leicester.
Initially the Royalists occupied High Cross in an attempt to stop a force of reinforcements getting to Leicester.  But they failed and the Leicester garrison was increased.

Next the Royalists successfully ambushed a convoy of supplies on its way to Leicester and made off with rich pickings!

Concerned that the supply convoy was now very later, part of the Leicester garrison pushed down the old Fosseway in force.  They were stopped at the Mill on the Soar and driven back from where they had come.

  2. Hi Johnny, Sorry, only just seen your comment, I must check my notifications settings!! The woods are made from randomly shaped 1/2in plywood painted black [background] with brown trees and then thick sponge, painted green [and plucked to shape it], glued on top. Quite simple!!!!
